wrong, they were protesting due to losing the facade that they had a democratic government

aung san suu kyi was just propped up by the military in order to not get sanctioned by the west. she never had any power and the one time she tried to act out by changing laws regarding military officials becoming politicians, she gets overthrown

myanmar has never been a democracy in the 80 so odd years it’s been independent

i wonder how things would have gone if aung san’s father hadn’t been assasinated. i imagine quite differently

too bad we’ll never know
