Natural palatal expansion

So, I have a narrow palate. Should I get MARPE/MASPE or experiment with thumbpulling/mewing. This is not about forward growth or whether these work or not, it's about palatal expansion. I'm reluctant to get a expander cuz I've heard it leads to recessed mandible. I'm sixteen. My palate is wide enough to accommodate my tongue but still very narrow
