Background: I am a 20 year old male living in a SEA country (brutal ik) and i have an upcoming dental consultation in 2 days. I previously visited a private dentist last year in Dec and the dentist said that I have impacted molars, a retained dedicuous tooth (idk how this even happened), a 70% overbite and a gummy smile. Since I have a lot of issues I got a referral letter for orthodontic treatment since I can't get braces for my teeth yet. My mom told me to schedule a dental consult at a public health clinic since it's cheaper/subsidized and if i do qualify for jaw surgery I might have a discounted cost for the surgery but it might take longer. My question is, would I actually qualify for bimax/genioplasty if i go with the public route? I read that the doctors prioritize function over aesthetics, and i would say I don't have a health issue like sleep apnea or anything so i'm afraid the doctors will just follow through with camouflage orthodontics like extractions and make my recessed jaw even worse. Is there anything I can say to perhaps make the doctor address my concerns or there's nothing I can do about it? I even asked chatgpt and it kept on saying my face isn't severely disfigured, just slightly below average to average if i softmaxxed fully (lol). It said I might have a slight class II tendency because of my chin recession but it's not severely recessed which I fear may prevent me from qualifying for surgery. Worse case I have to save up for private route which costs a lot. What do I do?
