i need help from someone well versed in facial anatomy & development.
i’ve been struggling w mental health issues and a lot of stress from a rigorous school program for the last 2-3 years and as a result, i haven’t paid much attention to my appearance. either way, i have a mouth breather face shape but i still looked better before i fell into the mental health problems. i’ve realized that i have genuine facial discrepancies as a result of this mouth breathing i had as a kid, but i need help from more knowledgeable people to better analyze and diagnose each of these issues—and ultimately to recommend the surgeries i need done. like it’s actually horrible, my side profile is sub5. like i genuinely don’t have any good features; just to name a few of the facial problems i have: recessed jaw + chin, narrow palate, sunken mid face, weird ass head shape—i already know there’s gonna be a lot of “rope” , “reincarnation” , and “jfl” comments under this post but i’m hoping there’s at least a few of you who could help, if that’s the case then please send me a dm and i’ll send a picture of my side profile to you.
just some extra info:
i went to an orthodontist about 2 years back and i remember him saying something along the lines of “you have class 1 teeth but a class 2 skeletal structure.” (because of this most orthodontists i’ve gone to said that i don’t need to have anything done, because my teeth are already fine) , “you’ll need surgery” , “your maxilla is overdeveloped but your jaw is something something (i don’t remember, i think maybe he said recessed, not sure)” “there’s a bone behind your nose that was supposed to drop but never did” , “you need to go to a more advanced orthodontist” , “your palate’s too narrow.” “i’m referring you to an ent.”
ultimately i got an appointment with a oral and maxilla facial doctor—a old indian lady with a bit of an attitude—who said “nah, doing all that correction work would be a lot of hassle. it’s better to just leave things as they are, you’ll probably just end up looking like your dad. your chin probably will grow a little but still be a soft chin. you don’t need a palate expanded, you’re fine.” i also have a picture of my palate and it is beyond narrow, not sure what she was on when she said that.
i also want to add that the reason i mouth breathed as a kid is because of a breathing condition i used to have when i was younger.
i also got my wisdom teeth removed recently and noticed my face got worse, narrower than it already was, so there’s that. oh and when i got them removed, they also noticed in the x ray that i have a small hole on the left side of my jaw bone or something like that, but they said it’ll *probably* fill in within 2-3 years.
moving forward to recently, my ENT issued me a sleep study—not because of the jaw stuff or what the orthodontist said, she kinda ignored that, not really sure why she issued it—and i’ve seen that people can end up getting bimax depending on the result of their sleep study. is there any way i can rig the study a little bit so that that happens?
also i just turned 17, and the ortho i talked to 2 years ago told me i was probably too old for ortho devices to work on my jaw, etc, the only option is surgery.
i realize i wrote a lot but i didn’t want to send it to reddit because they’re not honest & give you compliments to keep you from killing yourself.
