Need help, going to orthodontist tomorrow

I have a orthodontist appointment tomorrow mainly to check if I need braces, so it’s not clear if im going to get one. I want to get one tho since I have a over jet and because of that it’s keeping my maxilla is a little more forward than my mandible.

Im going to say that because of my bite I feel pain during afternoon and night but what more could I say to make him think it’s annoying me and painful

Or just fix at home with jutting and front chewing and mewing

Elastics recess maxilla mildly. Maxilla is way too important to retract it in any way.

my understanding is if you have an overjet, they will pull your maxilla back to "fix" the bite, when in reality you should be shifting the mandible forward to address the issue

Class II elastics aren’t as problematic as some people claim. They encourage a forward position of the mandible, helping to create the habit of keeping it in a more advanced position. At 16, their effect on the maxilla is mild. They may slightly restrain its remaining growth (which is already close to stopping) or cause very minor retrusion. However, these changes are not significant. Most of the effects are focused on the teeth and the surrounding alveolar bone, not the maxilla itself.
