we all know it isnt about what you say (unless you do something outrageous) just fraud low inhib.. also the better you look the more direct you can be, so id figure that out beforehand

Im thinking maybe i can use my friend to talk to these girls at the gym and then i calmly join the conversation and just talk like normal, then build up friendship with them or something. That has worked for me before and got me my first and only talking stage, only difference is that it was in school. Friendships would probably get me further than just a cold approach aswell

Yeah, that's smr social circle / warm intro game at the gym is way lower risk and higher success rate than pure cold approaches. It worked in school for a reason. familiarity builds comfort fast.

Just join naturally, keep it chill and platonic at first talk gym stuff, routines, whatever's going on and let rapport grow over a few sessions. One more thing: it's your job to continue and carry the conversation, not hers. Don't turn it into an interview with rapid-fire questions but also don't overshare.
If she is the chatty times it might be better or just be a listener too. It all depends and relate to what she says to keep it flowing both ways.
