Most are so self absorbed and narcy they are professional victims and cant accept responsibility and think they're superior to people who have better lives, and yes some are actually correct in their assessments but in terms of friendships it is unideal to befriend one and help them because in the end they use you as an emotional tampon and then ditch you

if u start a friendship with venting you clearly are trying to use the other person, most people even humblebrag and bait validation, if the venting is done when the friendship is formed based on mutual respect then its ok because you know the person would do the same for you when you vent and its not his whole personality

Yep. I used to try and calm people down when they were venting, try and see their point of view, back them up. It was mainly because I was in that position myself, because of childhood abuse.
