I was once in a class where the ''gender pay gap'' was discussed in some sort of discussion.

I decided to give my take on it and openly said that I didn't believe in it and that women simply chose to earn less than men.
Even though I had some female classmates who were visibly seething when I said that, I was not seen as weird and they pretty much all still talked to me after that.
It even boosted my status to an extent I would say because hardly anybody ever does these things in the open
