If you’re suffering from poor mental health or a mental illness, especially as a result of psychological trauma, go straight to a doctor for treatment.
If you feel a need to talk about it and get things off your chest, find a close male friend or relative.
But never share these things with women who aren’t your mother, especially not a wife or girlfriend. To them, your humanity is ‘emotional labour’ and they’ll make you the problem for burdening them with it, even using it as an excuse to cheat on you or dump you. Don’t let them make your issues worse with their callousness.
You can’t trust women not to make it all about them and use it against you; it’s just what they do. For most women, men are nothing but an accessory in their lives that they have no genuine connection with. They don’t want to hear about your problems and find negative emotion in men to be disgusting. Women who would support you and stand by you through your struggles are incredibly rare nowadays; even if you think you’ve struck gold with a girl, don’t risk it.
Mental health is a very serious thing and men must rely on each other to overcome our problems. We must be more fraternal and develop closer bonds with each other. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 40. We can’t let more young men die of suicide or substance abuse because they have nobody to turn to. Be there for your friends and know you aren’t alone if you’re suffering. Support and treatment is out there
