Woah, is he a Gujjar? I think they call themselves Gujjar in Pakistan and Gurjar in India. Many of them identify as Punjabi but genetically they’re separate from other Punjabis like the Jatts and the Christians.

Some Gujjars are trying to claim I’m Gujjar as well but I’m not. Even though they are my top matches on Vahaduo, but I think it’s because we both have high levels of Iran_N ancestry.

But those were Pakistani Gujjars. Indian Gurjars from Rajasthan are usually more South Asian-shifted, likely because they mixed with the locals. I can show a PCA plot that shows this.

yeah i live in haryana and i actually have a sample and it has 12 percent AASI, 33 percent steppe and 55 percent iranian

i think they are too far from gujjars for that and ahirs were the dominant shepherd and farming cast there. i think indian gujjars and paki gujjars could have been different populations, this is could be the reason why indian gujjars show different dna results.
