Honestly, I have no clue about any of this, I'm just copying and pasting what I've red on chatgpt but I gotta say its pretty interesting cuz Ive never seen anyone discuss about these:
This is actually one of the most promising newer directions.
It bypasses GH/IGF and hits the growth plate more directly
This regulates how long growth plates stay active.
Extend the lifespan of growth plates, not just speed
This is a key regulator of growth plate development.
This mainly increases bone density, not length
So:
This is more abstract but powerful.
This is probably the real “hidden layer” — not a single compound, but regulation of the whole system
All these “new” pathways fall into 3 strategies:
1. C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP analogs)
This is actually one of the most promising newer directions.- CNP stimulates bone growth directly
- It works by counteracting FGFR3, which normally limits growth
- Achondroplasia (where growth is suppressed)
It bypasses GH/IGF and hits the growth plate more directly
2. Parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP pathway)
This regulates how long growth plates stay active.- Keeps chondrocytes (growth plate cells) alive and dividing longer
- Works in balance with other signals (like FGFR3)
Extend the lifespan of growth plates, not just speed
3. Indian hedgehog signaling (IHH pathway)
This is a key regulator of growth plate development.- Controls:
- Bone lengthening
- Coordination of growth plate zones
4. Sclerostin inhibition (Wnt/β-catenin pathway)
- Sclerostin normally blocks bone formation
- Inhibiting it → more bone growth activity
- Osteoporosis treatments
This mainly increases bone density, not lengthSo:
- Stronger bones ≠taller bones
5. Epigenetic regulation
This is more abstract but powerful.- Controls which growth genes are turned on/off
- Influenced by:
- Nutrition
- sleep
- environment
This is probably the real “hidden layer” — not a single compound, but regulation of the whole system
Big picture (this is the key insight)
All these “new” pathways fall into 3 strategies:- Stimulate growth (GH, IGF, CNP)
- Remove brakes (FGFR3 inhibition, lower estrogen)
- Extend growth window (PTHrP, hormonal timing)
