When scientists write articles for other scientists to consume, you go to extensive effort to provide background. You summarize the state of the field and give references to important previous works, situating the context of your contribution before you give it.
This makes fucking sense, because, you know, texts are difficult to interpret and meaning is highly contingent and all that, as philosophers should know.
But those assholes seem to think that the more obtuse the text is, the more vague name-dropping they can do with allusions to obscure things that the reader may or may not know, the better. References? Context? Why not just replace this essay with "Fuck you, reader, I am smarter and better-read than you."
This is why philosophy is garbage that no one gives a shit about: because philosophers write for their own egotistical purposes, and not to actually communicate ideas

June 6th. 1944. Allied troops hit the beaches of Normandy to finally bring the war back to mainland Europe while the soviets was fighting the Axis powers in the east.
On that day, as many as 70% of those men would die that day, and they knew that. But they still got off those boats and stormed the beaches.
If you cant see where I am going with this story, its an argument to prove if those brave men, and the leaders of the Allies in WW2 where nihilistic I would of probably be dead because of a certain angry man with a mustache.
I'm not saying that story as a "Go America!!" or as a political piece, but as an example of many things you enjoy, are the result of people having a loyalty to a cause to the point where they would die for it.

I constantly hear stories, about how life is easier when your a nihilist, and adversity is really easy to deal with. And the main reason people become nihilist is so they can live a life of ease and comfort and not deal with life's problems. And I guess that is true, life is easier as a nihilist But excuse me for my rudeness, but to be honest, there is no easy way to say what I am going to say..
I am not going to judge your life situation or say how hard/easy it is... But are you telling me your such a weak person that you have to cope with life by telling yourself "eh nothing matters". If you are reading this and your a nihilist, you probably live in a first world country, you probably never have to worry about starving to death or going to war. The fact you are reading this over the internet is a blessing billions don't have. So how are you going to sit here and tell me that your a nihilist?
Your going to sit here and tell me your a nihilist because life is to hard, when young men as young as 15 where getting gun downed on D-Day? Or Nelson Mandala was locked up for 27 years in prison for fighting against a racial system in South Africa? Or Rosa Parks or MLK was locked up in jail for protesting racial inequality in America? Or Alfred Wegener, creating the theory of continental drift, but then got ridiculed and bullied for his theory, and then only after his death, was it discovered he was right. And so many more examples that you can probably think of.

I only say that to put things in perspective that those great stories, would of never of happened if nihilism ran rampant, and you have no right being a nihilist.
