how straight is your hair? If its extremely straight you'd need a perm, but if its wavy, the longer it grows the thicker/curlier It'll become. I have barely curly hair and right now after 6 months of no cuts it looks like the pic you put. Try using shea butter and other black people conditoners

my hair has like too much volume on the top, like it looks blown up
this the length I wanna go for but I need that volume gone and more wavy

no poo is legit, shampoo and conditioner isn't natural, you shouldn't need to wash your hair with anything that isn't just water unless u work in a coal mine

If u wanna achieve it without a perm, be ready to spend 20 minutes styling it everyday, and still I dont think you are gonna achieve this exact texture. But here are the things u can do:
- use curlers and rollers to curl the hair manually
- spray some sea salt spray/texture spray and blowdry your hair with a difuser, in circular motions. On top of that use some pomade to lock in the texture. This is the most effective method for me.

I think this type of hairstyle will suit you, good luck bro
