Anime characters for the most part are literally Europeans, they are not Jomons and Ainu because although Jomons and Ainu have caucasoid phenotypes as well as strong body hair and facial hair, they usually have a slightly darker skin tone than the average East Asian or their skin tone is the same as the average East Asian. If anime characters had caucasoid features but yellowish or beige skin tones, then it would be acceptable to claim that they are based on Jomons or Ainu.

It’s both. Some characters (usually the more iconic ones) are cacuasoid, others are pan face gookoids. Nbd
