I haven't tried clamping myself but yeah, an inch with clamping in 6 months is on unrealistic if you do it consistently. A guy got on r/ajelqforyou an inch in 3 months through clamping alone. You can find plenty of pe routines on r/ajelqforyou and pegym. I personally did 10 min heat then 5 sets of 5 min s2s with about 1-2 sec per side and 10 min heat after. Yeah, most methods are permanent if done for an extended period of time. You might lose like 1/4 of an inch in a decade or so.Are your gains permanent or do you lose them after stopping?
