Music as culture died with the internet or arguably mass radio access since every teenager listens to essentially the same menagerie of cosmopolitan /mu/core regardless of location. Music "scenes" exists only as internet phenomenon and washed up millennials playing bar gigs. You can cope with your niche microgenres or sub 1k follower soundcloud artist you like but his style is a product of an innumerable variety songs he's heard from the internet. Silence is also undervalued when people use their 10 thousand song spotify playlist as muzak to drone on for their ADHD.
