Dont know anything about nootropics. Caffeine definately works tho

Caffeine obviously works but once you build tolerance to it comes with diminishing returns.

I’d recommend nicotine after you start chugging 3-4 cups without feeling anything.

Don’t mess with nootropics unless it’s a must, I’d recommend grey market modafinil as opposed to adderall/ritalin since street ones tend to be laced

Why does tolerance develop and what is diminishing returns?

Higher doses of caffeine start causing cardiac stress and dehydration.

We build a tolerance to caffeine because regularly consuming caffeine increases your bodies production of adenosine receptors and therefore the likelihood of adenosine binding to those receptors Consequently, this decreases caffeines effects, causing you to become tolerant over time. Most CSN drugs work the same way.

Does it increase dopamine release by binding to the adenosine receptor? Does it basically work like methylphenidate?

Depends on your goal really

Mask tiredness? Coffee
Other purposes? Nootropics

If you quit it your tolerance will diminish.
I understand that I will only take it during important exams, but I wonder if it is as powerful a stimulant as CSN drugs or does it not increase attention as strongly as they do?

Coffee only if you're tired
I am not tired, I do not want to make simple mistakes in the exam and I do not want to lose my attention in long sentences because the exam questions contain very long paragraph questions.
