It has nothing to do with that. Every great writer knew this. Carl Jung argued that every awful thing done throughout history was committed by human beings, and that you are one of them. Everybody carries a shadow, a dark side, and it will come out under the right circumstances. Anyone who denies this is coping. Jung argued that the first step to true enlightenment was recognizing this because most people never do. Most people aren’t honest and massively struggle to take accountability for their thoughts and actions.
