is it just me or nw 1 actually looks better than straight hairline? and no I’m not trying to cope because I do have a straight hairline

I just think it adds masculinity to face, but beyond nw1 it starts to look terribly brutal

men tend to have longer mid-faces which means that if the hairline is too low it can make the face look unbalanced so recession can re-balance the face in some cases.

completely straight hairline is only necessary if you want a buzzcut or lineup tbh but any hairstyle with even a moderate amount of length its not needed, also a lot of people even if they arent straight hairline technically still arent norwood 1 because norwood is the hairloss scale, they would be norwood 1 if they started straight then lost it but for many people they simply have that shape of hairline, its called a mature hairline, me personally ive had it since i was a young teenager

but doesn’t it make sense to hide your forehead if you have long midface to balance out proportions though?

no, if you have a long mid-face you want more of the forehead to show.

but the main issue for people that have this is that their lower third is too short.

This is my case, I will probably get hairline lowering in the future

there is no such thing as norwood 0 its a made up term
yes exactly but its the colloqiual name for a perfectly square hairline, one that doesnt fit on the norwood scale

Too low hairline plus prominent ears can look ape-like in some cases.

its not lol, norwood 1 is usually whats referred to as a "mature hairline" where there is a slight curve, which is what most males have. norwood 0/perfectly square is rarer
