The girls scream pierced his ears and only made him more intent on strangling her. Vlad grabbed her by the hair and dragged her across the wet slimy alley floor toward a patch of wall over which small terrace with a couple if brilliant candles illuminated the underlying portion of alley way.

he tried to kiss her as she screamed but a police officer emerged from the far end of the alley 15 meters away and yelled “You! Stop right there!”

The thrill of chase froze and became an uncomfortable nearly paralyzing numbness that shot up Vlad’s spine and pervaded through his entire back and arms.

Still, vlad violently jolted against the sudden frigidness of his limbs and and shot down the alley way from which he had entered.

Lights along the alley in the windows above lit up as he ran down the way covering his face with his right forearm.

He took a sharp left heading back the way from which he came and again saw the light in the distance by the old Gypsy bar. A weight in his shoulders suddenly lifted as he felt relieved to see the same light again as he knew the path back home. He ran for it seeing no one behind him.
