kinda fucking crazy how it just popped into my head when i was reminiscing about my high school years. i don’t know why, but greek tragedy stories just stick with me for some reason. swear to god, wasn’t there a sequel or something called electra complex? some shit about daughters and their fathers? maybe it’s the fucking genetic determinism? i dont know, there's just something about it with these stories that just stook with me

Hephaestus, Ares, and Aphrodite is another good one.

Aphrodite is arranged to marry Hephaestus, the crippled and ugly god

Eventually, Poseidon convinces Hephaestus to let them go, stating that he will repay him for the damages she has done, manipulating him into not getting the revenge he deserved

i think it’s pretty crazy how these greek tragedy stories were just ahead of their time, like they already knew about shit like human nature and determinism. they didn’t have psychology studies or neuroscience, but they still understood how people worked down to a science. betrayal, ego, destiny, the way people self destruct over their own flaws, nothing’s really changed since then. they knew people were just slaves to their impulses, genetics, and circumstances way before anyone tried putting it into some academic framework
