The Islamic belief [fact, really] is that God sent a prophet to every community [in the past], you don't know what the world looked like.. people can only theorize. Either way, there were 124,000 prophets (peace be upon them) in total and the seal of Prophets was sent in the 7th century. And before him, it was 700 years before (Jesus (peace be upon him)). The Qur'an focuses on only 26 prophets (peace be upon them), all centered around West Asia/North Africa. Why? I do not know this, that knowledge belongs to the Almighty only. But nothing about it is far-fetched.
