Back in the 1940s-60s, a lot of young people in England and the U.S. started pushing back against the super stiff, "upright suit" look their parents wore. This turned into what we now call mod culture.
The goal wasn't to throw away formality completely they still liked the sharp, respectable vibe - but they wanted to remix it. That's how mod fashion came about, blending sporty or casual pieces with classic formalwear and is now seeing a resurgence
Example. A full trousers with dress shoes and a formal shirt tucked in and a tie. Very formal, very corporate but instead of throwing on a coat or a blazer you wear a biker jacket or a Harrington jacket
Full cut trousers, nice dress shoes, turtleneck but instead of a normal coat. A rugged naval peacoat and a flat cap or don't wear a cap at all
Or you could put on a colorful Harrington jacket and slick back your hair
Another idea if you want to keep the coat is to switch up the trousers with jeans
Or like Eastwood swap out the shoes for boots and wear a polo shirt inside
If you want it take it one step more rebel. Maybe the james Dean's outfit will appeal to you
It's one of the most wearable recent fashion trends I've seen in a while otherwise it's always so crazy fashion that makes you look like a goof. What do you think?
