when I was vry young I found a kitten in the garbage and took it home, but because my father was very strict I decided to keep it in an abandoned building. I would come every day to feed it and play with it but it was losing energy and within a few days it died. I cried a lot that day.
A few scenarios I have in mind is that
it had some disease and needed a vet
the place was too cold for newborn to survive
it wasnt meant to make it, there's high mortality in newborn cats which is why they have a lot of babies
