One the biggest misconception on this forum is that normans were french. They were Scandinavian

They had Scandinavian (Especially Norwegian) heritage. They spoke a dialect of French and lived in the france but if they took a DNA test they would come back Scandinavian.

yes that is a well known fact. The Norse colonized Normandie in the "viking" era and settled there.
