Knew it for a while but wanted to cope. Look up any online game you play, then type in "cheats" after that on YouTube. I can almost guarantee that video will have more views and likes than players currently online. An absolute joke. Out of curiosity, I did a bit of research and bought myself a one-day license for a Call of Duty cheat.

When I tell you that around 5-6 players in every lobby were doing the same thing, I'm not joking. People say it's sweats, but it's not. Everyone is walling, they'll see you before you even get past your spawn. I couldn't figure it out until I actually began walling myself. Pair that with aimbot, and this is why online video games are dead as fuck. There's but no point in wasting time on a digital entity so that some pussy can buy a cheat which is undetected by some dogshit corporate "anti-cheat" system and blow your hard work out of the water.

It's not exclusive to shooters, either. It's anything and everything. Companies won't ban them either, why would they? Cheaters are racking up their engagement, banning them would mean wiping out their most active users. It's a damn shame as well. Video games are a great way to have fun and progress at something which is unrelated to real life, but you just can't do it in 2026. Time to grow up.

Sure, but the entire point is to win a few matches and get progressively better. There's really no other motivator, that's why people play to begin with.

Yeah bro I know but unless you're in your 50's and only play for 15 minutes a day 99% of people who play are trying to get better and don't want to constantly be beamed by a cheater

Look into Arctic Cheats. It's pricey if you want a lifetime key, and still pricey if you want a week or month long license, but I haven't been banned after 24 hours of blatantly using it. This is assuming you're comfortable with turning off your core isolation on your primary PC and letting some random unknown exe file run whatever the hell it wants into your drivers.

If it's non-paid, it's a 100% chance it's malware. If it's paid, it's a 50% chance it's malware. Spending money just to risk having your PC remotely controlled and unusable for a few hour's worth of trolling an expensive video game to be banned on top of that is... quite special decision making.

Crossplay is a pain in the ass, nearly as annoying as SBMM. And even then you have people using Cronus's or some kind of Homebrew bootleg to use cheats. Or going the extra mile and soldering a chip with anti-cheat bypasses into their consoles jfl.

It's not even cheaters alone, but as you mentioned, sweats too - and that includes smurfing. But enemy players aren't the only things that make competitive spaces unenjoyable.. I think it's just how the games are overall made.

Online games are packed with everything you'd ever need to NOT enjoy yourself. And i say this as a person with 10000 hours in league of legends.

Ask any ranked player, they'll say they don't actually enjoy themselves while playing the game (except a few maniacs). And at that point, what's the point of even playing the game? My anwser would be addiction and boredom. The ranked system is designed to get you addicted and to keep playing, then improving, just to play more - which i will talk about in a second.

That misery of an experience is the exact reason why despite having thousands of hours in online games, when someone asks me for my favorite games, i always list singleplayer masterpieces. I've never had the same amount of fun playing league or shooter games, when compared to games like terraria, god of war, MGS, ghost of tsushima or binding of isaac (few of maany examples).. hell it's not even comparable.

But at the same time i kind of understand the thrill of constantly getting better and destroying your opponents in competitive spaces. Even though you can imitate it, or do it even better, in single-player games, it's just not the same. What i noticed in my thousands of hours in league, is that the only time you're having fun, is when you're completely stomping your opponent - when you're so many leagues above their skill level that it genuinely feels like taking candy from a child. The issue with that comes with the rarity of when that happens. Back when i played ranked, there would be maybe 1 every 5 30 minute games that made me feel like i was controlling the game. Everything else is miserable autopilot, then que next.

So in essence, competitive games are like gambling. You're always striving for that high of finally destroying your enemy, and it consumes you so much that you don't notice the hours wasted CHASING that high.

And this creates smurfs - which exist in any online game with an elo system. People that can no longer regularly get that high, so they create a new account, in which they can destroy their opponents every game. It's like a chill marijuana user trying heroine for the first time lol. And those smurfs while keeping their brain happy make everyone around them miserable, creating an entire loop of players going from being miserable to smurfing then back to being miserable.

This is where singleplayer games shine, because they never leave you bored or miserable (atleast most games... looking at your rdr2). They are designed to ALWAYS give you that high, to always have you wanting to play. When competitive games keep you hooked with *theoretical* gambling, singleplayer games keep you hooked with actual enjoyable gameplay, beautiful graphics and a great story.

So in all honesty, at the end of the day, you have to ask yourself whether playing competitive games is even worth it, when games that will make you ACTUALLY happy exist. :COFFEE:

There also comes another whole topic of "rage" in competitive games, but i don't want to get too into that.

In short, where as competitive games thrive off of frustration, singleplayer games thrive off of satisfaction.

It's actually pretty funny, because you'd never want to play a rage-inducing single player game, because why would you? Meanwhile if you just broke your keyboard by losing a siege match, you'll buy a new keyboard asap just to continue climbing.

And the game knows this, the developers know it's infuriating, and they know how strong of a motivator rage is in video games.

Then, as you're infuriated 24/7 because of the video game you are mindlessly grinding, they introduce DLC and micro-transactions that, in some cases, make the game harder play without. So now you're not having fun, continuously spending money, and wasting precious time that could be utilized elsewhere. It's the definition of a trap. No matter what diarrhea slop these billion-dollar companies come out with, they'll never fail. All the piggies will continue to consooooom, and they know that.

Also offtopic, but this post entirely shows why i became less active on this site, how does a good, entertaining and relatable post get absolutely garbage replies? How are you supposed to interact with the user base at this point lol. It seems like the only threads users are willing to read is the same regurgitated drama over and over again

That's cause it has a shitty anti cheat

Compare that to epic Games who have a really good anti cheat (people will only ever encounter a cheater at the top of the game competitively, so basically only 1% of the player base). I think I've maybe only encountered 1 or 2 cheaters ever in 8 years of playing fortnigger (tbh I don't even rlly play it anymore but yeah still)
