I watched a YT video called “Using numbers to find the ideal male height.” The most compelling data in it was from romance novels imo. Women examined 1000 romance novels. Romance novels are written by women for women so they’re incentivized to make the men as close to possible of what women fantasize about without virtue signaling. Women’s sexuality is more story driven than men’s so sexual romance novels is basically their equivalent of porn videos. Only 257 of 1000 had a specific height rather than just “tall.”
79% of the characters were in the 6’0” to 6’6” range. Likelihood of a male lead having a height taller or shorter than this was exponentially lower.
≈90% of the male protagonist fell into the at least 6’0” but below 7’0” range.
It was more common for the male lead to be 7’0”+ than it was for them to be 5’9”-5’11”.
The most frequently occurring (mode) height was 6’2” — or 10” taller than the average woman’s. 39/257 of the protagonists were mentioned to be 6’2”
In second place was the height of 6’4” — or 1 foot taller than the average woman. 33/257 of the male leads were mentioned to be 6’4”
In third place was the height of 6’3” — or 11” taller than the average woman’s. 29/257 of the male leads were mentioned to be 6’3”
If you care more about mean than mode:
When every individual male lead’s mentioned height was averaged together it was found the (mean) height of a male lead in a romance novel was 6’3”.
If you can height fraud to this range comfortably then go for it. If you can’t, still height fraud a little bit and see if you have the best luck with women 10”-to-1 foot shorter than you
