is topical minox worth it? i’ve been told oral is the only way to get eyelashes + eyebrows to grow but getting a prescription seems kinda tedious. my eyelashes are decent but my eyebrows keep me trapped in ltn hell. gonna dye them both jet black soon

Oral minox causes bloating and tachycardia. Just use the 5% foam formulation and you're good.

I don't think oral is worth it. The side effects are a bit more pronounced and there's some really scary cardiac complications you can develop, particularly pericardial effusion/tamponade which is deadly (10% of people got it in early clinical trials, although the participants were already quite sick). Just do 5% minox in alcohol or the foam variants if they are available in your country.

If you're a poor responder you could try also applying tretinoin, or try liposomal minoxidil sulfate which seems to be very effective in new clinical trials. It completely circumvents the SULT1a1 deficiency that some people have and makes everybody a good responder. You can buy it even though it's not approved by any regulatory agency like the FDA yet, so you're gonna be a bit of a lab rat but it's probably completely safe.

There's new evidence that suggests that, just like minox for beards, after >2 years of application the gains are permanent. So try to hold on until then.

oral is good only down side is some bloating. Personally i have not gotten much bloating side effects, im on 5 mg a day. I would say 5%+tret is still good but it is more trouble and you will get less results with lash growth i believe.

Just for clarification OP, 5% tret doesn't exist. I think he's talking about 0.05% which I agree is a good concentration for this if you end up trying it.

I'm not sure I'd apply it on my eyelids. I don't apply anything on my eyelids, I just apply tret and minox on my eyebrows and my lashes have also grown quite a bit. I just rub in a thin film of tret in my brows every other day. I'd look into bimatoprost (latisse) for eyelashes, but there's risks with it too like periorbital fat loss which gives you prey eyes:feelswah: it can also stain your iris brown but since you're black that's a non-issue for you. Honestly not sure what to do in your case, sorry. It might be worth the risk to just try either one of them, I'd probably do the bimatoprost route just because I can rest easy knowing I'm not damaging my eyes.

The best way to get it depends on where you're from. I first went to a pharmacist and asked him if he thought that I could get tret through public healthcare in my country. He said that it was probably not gonna fly, and to get it I would have to go to a private doctor and pay upwards of 100 USD. I begged him to sell it to me anyways and he politely declined lol. However, in some countries pharmacies are very lax with prescription meds, and in some countries tret can just be bought OTC. I ended up buying it while on vacation in Spain, no questions asked.
