I have noticed that I have a pretty significant overbite, and it causes my upper lip to overlap my lower lip. You might think it’s not a big deal, but here’s the problem: my side profile looks extremely recessed, and the overlapping lips make it even worse.

So I made an appointment with an orthodontist to get some help. However, they told me they want to push back my upper jaw which is a big no-go for me, because it would make my maxilla even more recessed and completely ruin any forward facial growth.

My question is: what would be the best case scenario in my situation? And whats the best surgical method to fix my overbite without pushing back my upper jaw?

did he give any reason as for why he would not solve this with a jaw surgery?
where they'd presumably bring the mandible forwards to "match" the projection of the maxilla?
