My orthodontist yelled at me for not wearing my elastics to fix my overbite. I don’t want to flatten my maxilla like the users of this forum said elastics do . What should I do ? I wear braces Im 17. The orthodontist is a fucking foid I should’ve grabbed her ass when she was yelling at me.

Elastic won't flatten your maxilla , furthermore if only used for 1 or so year .
you need them to fix your alveolar and it is mandatory to get bimax.

only extractions (except wisdom teeth) will recess you.

see it as a pre plan for bimax ascension and do it.

If your bite is fine , meaning an acceptable overbite within normal range, then you could get bimax without elastics and invasilign.

however in your case , you seem to have an above normal range overbite so you need to correct it first before getting bimax done.

so you will don't need to wait another year or two before performing bimax.

i guess you need bimax like 80% of us need because we are Normies born with recessed jaws but maybe you re decent forward grown.

If you get camouflage orthodontics you will have to decompensate before jaw surgery.

IMO ask your orthodontist about jaw surgery tbh and if you have a skeletal deformity.

Just don’t wear it still. Every mm of the maxilla matters. But the change is usually minor. There’s always other treatments besides elastics. I got some appliance which is alright.
