Nutrient deficencies cause underdeveloped jaws, leading to maloclusions as there isn’t enough real estate for teeth to grow in. Orthos focus on straight teeth rather than facial asthetics. As for WHY, I would blame mass agriculture which strips nutrients from the soil. Addinitonally most kids are fed diets high in grains/goyslop and low in animal products. Clearly a result of an overpopulated and utterly doomed world.
