No, I just checked iron levels are good and ferritin is within the normal range. Same with B12 and Follate. Very strange.

Lowest mine got

Got a call from the hospital telling me I needed an emergency blood transfusion only to go there, sit for 2 hours and them tell me actually I don't

Had to get iron infusions but prior to that was prescribed 120mg of elemental iron divided into 3 doses per day

My Iron levels are quite high on the reference range yet I have these issues. B12, follate is normal and Ferritin is okayish. I don’t know if there’s something else that’s missing or if it’s genetic as my mother has low hemo levels, but that’s due to iron which isn’t my case.

Very unusual as iron levels and vitamin levels seem fine.

Is it actually possible for a young male to have low iron if you eat meat regularly?

any medical students here ?

could be many reasons, i would supplement every morning with an iron supp + some vitamin c and on an empty stomach and separate from other vitamins

No my iron levels are actually high. Something else is causing this.

Hmmmm, but iron levels are already highish. I don’t think it’s thalassaemia as that would have more serious blood markers. Hopefully it’s not a bone or stem cell issue.

how do you have low iron. must be a vegetarian indian

i have too much iron so donate blood to lower it

Does thalassaemia always come with low iron levels or could you high have levels of the it and other necessary vitamins and still have it ?

My doctor didn’t comment anything about these markers yet they’re abnormal.

Iron levels are highish yet blood markers show issues with blood cell volume and haemoglobin

Can’t get any help here or with the UK national health service. Have to go private once again.

Is it always serious or could you have mildish cases ?

As you can see by my marker, hemo and cell volume are borderline.
