I’m 14 and i’ve been noticing how underdeveloped my chin is. projection basically nonexistent. i’m set to get braces for my overbite, but the bigger issue is that straight teeth won’t fix skeletal deficiencies. i could end up with alignment corrected yet still stuck with a collapsed lower third.
the chin recession kills balance in my profile. i’ve read about genioplasty, sliding osteotomies, implants, but that’s obviously not realistic for me right now. people online keep saying “just run test/hgh,” but i’m too young, too broke, and i know it’s not guaranteed to affect bone growth at this stage.
sorry if this has been asked before, i know there are threads, but there’s never any actual clear guide on what to do in my situation. my question is whether fixing the overbite at 14 can actually bring forward projection to the mandible, or if that’s just orthodontist cope. i don’t want to spend years in braces only to come out with straighter teeth and the same recessed look.
is surgery the only real solution for a chin this recessed, or can orthodontics still make a visible difference at my age?

Please take this thread as seriously as possible and comment even if you are not sure about the answer, i cant seem to find any actual way or guide on this

Chew alot everyday, hard gum.

Your mandible will develop.

You still look good man but i can see you have a maxillary recession, you could fix that with braces but then your skeletal issues would be still there and they would be much harder to fix then because your bite is artificial.

Since your 14 your sutures in the back of the maxilla are maybe still open and you can try hard chewing every day to second day with mastic gum which will create bone remodelling in a more favorable direction and guide the remaining growth of your face in a more forward direction, but make sure your condyles are in the correct position when chewing else you get horrible tmj pain and issues.

There is a discord server called mewtropics/craniofacial research collective. The people there now much more about that.
