Braces do not change your jaw shape what so ever. If you have an overbite because you have a shitty jaw, then braces won't help you. I also have an overbite, but mine is caused by a deformity in my teeth (both upper and lower row), not by a bad jaw. So for me, fixing my overbite will only be an improvement.

not my health except for gaining weight due to the lack of excercise but it’s really affecting my pocket and my daily life.

The only thing braces will change is your smile and whether or not your lower lip retrudes or not (which is a major looksmaxx, don't take it for grandted)

im fairly sure my overbite is skeletal, is it necessary to get surgery for it or will it not cause major health problems

U won't really fix ur jaw unless u fillersmaxx, but a good bite is important for lip asthetix
