isnt the point of an MMO to share a game world with a huge persistent community? to play such a game with diminute private server community its just better to just play some singleplayer or coop less grind based rpg

retail wow community is beyond shit unless youre in a really good guild with people you like
private server community is smaller but the fact that its smaller and more insular creates an incentive for players to actually socialize with ech other and interact

in retail you literally just sit in que in main city until you get a group of randoms youll never see again unless youre in a guild or have arena partners in which case you instead sit in que with your guildies or arena mates and never talk to or interact with anyone else in the world

private servers actually have realm communities with memes, drama, notorious guild/players/etcetc
funny shit talking and random discussion in world chat that would get you banned in retail, its literally just a better version of the game

plus the most popular private servers rn are tbc client which is a much better version of the game than retail imo

you’re completely wrong, private server vanilla creates a community of about 4k or so people, so you grow to know everyone and this is where wow really shines, its community aspect. modern retail is everything that is worng with modern mmorpgs. the the person of above me said toy sit in the main city why queing of for dungeon or pvp while you jnow ZERO people on your server because activision blizzard introduced cross realm which kills the community aspect as well as flying mounts which killed world pvp.

yeah vanilla is my favorite exp tbh but the vanilla ps scene kind of got killed by classic (which blizz completely fucked up btw shit ass company)
