It doesn't promote anything, parents have their children marry cousins for a number of reasons and it's not because of cultural pressure. Also, i don't advocate for cousin marriage but i know quite a few people who married their cousins and had healthy children. I even know one girl whos parents are cousins and she also married her cousin and her children are both healthy and even good looking kids compared to others. No defects but i obviously know it's a possibility the more you inbreed, the higher the chance of a birth defect. God is good.

What are you basing this off? inbreeding has no correlation to a lower IQ in children, that might only come into effect when it's 2-3+ generations of continuous inbreeding.
