palate expander at 16?

Hi I’m 16 male and just had a consultation with the orthodontist. I was told I have class 3 malocclusion with an open bite and a crossbite. The doctor also said my palate is too narrow but that an MSE or palate expander wouldn’t really work at my age.

Should I still ask about getting one? He also said I’ll be getting braces with rubber bands. Will that help me look better too or just fix my bite?

I just found out about marpe. Would that be better than a traditional palate expander?

you're in a grey area here. older teens and adults use marpe and young teens generally use palate expander. My question is if you know whether your jaw has stopped growing or not.

A normal palate expander wont work at your age. Marpe or Sarpe will. Im almost 18 and getting Sarpe. If your only gonna get braces (and no surgery) and your palate is narrow, their probably gonna extract some tooths.

My orthodontist said I wouldn’t need to extract any teeth because I have gaps in my teeth. Is that true?

I mean if he said that hes not gonna extract teeths, then hes probably not going to extract teeths. But i know some cases where they said the same and then suddenly there was a reason for them to remove some teeths.
