Palate Expander at 17

I just discovered that my palate is narrow asf. I’m currently 16 but I’m broke and I can’t afford a palate expander. Nor do I think I can convince my parents to get it for me. I can’t tell them it’s for aesthetic purposes otherwise it’ll be a waste of money to them because I have no issues with my teeth and I’m still on braces for 2 months. I calculated that roughly by the time I have the funds I’ll be 17. I wonder if it’ll still be effective at that time?

Would “trouble breathing” be me having trouble breathing from the nose or would I be breathing from the mouth. (To fraud having the issue)

can you hold proper tongue posture . if ypu cant even do this for awhile then its probably narrow. I dont have much knowledge on this but atleast ur getting an expander rather than thumbpulling

Yes I’ve been doing that for years my only problem is how small my mouth is
