palate expander question

i have a weird question can i chew chewing gum while having a palatal expander?
my ortho just slightly mentioned it saying i shouldnt but i dont think its that bad if i do?
the worst thing would be it getting stuck in the device thingy but if i just chew it at the front of the teeth nothing bad would happen right,

itll hurt and probs inflame your jaw for basically no benefit. just do your best to keep your tongue on your palate despite the expander

Chewing gum creates shear that can loosen miniscrews and cause the expander to move. Possibly even increasing the risk of inflammation around the appliance
