Palate expander

I've got braces and I have like half a year left, but my maxilla is hella recessed and underdeveloped. So I've been thinking about trying to get a hold of a palate expander. But I'm guessing that you would need a specific medical reason for getting them, so how could I convince my orthodontist that I actually need them.

How long do you have a palate expander?

And has anyone had any luck in trying to get one?

unless you're 13 no + it widens ur maxilla doesnt help with forward growth

Palate expander wont do shit for your recessed maxilla on its own , you need face mask with it

Regular expanders wont do anything but widen and give u a tooth gap
if u can find one of those 3-way palate expanders with a front/forward plate maybe

But my maxilla is still underdeveloped either way. Shouldn't widening atleast improve it a bit?

you should absolutely confront your orthodontist about this asap, in some cases they only care about aligning the teeth and dont do a good job at caring in how bones develope
