11:9-12
And if We give man a taste of a mercy from Us, then We withdraw it from him; he becomes despairing, rejecting.

And if We give him the taste of a blessing after hardship has afflicted him, he says: "Evil has gone from me!" He becomes happy, boastful.

Except for those who do SABR and do good works; these will have a pardon, and a great reward.

So perhaps you wish to ignore some of what has been inspired to you, and you are depressed by it, because they say: "If only a treasure was sent down with him, or an angel had come with him!" You are but a warner, and God is Caretaker over all things.

Lets look at the root word from Hans wehr: Patience, **PERSERVERENCE**, **ENDURANCE**

Acc to Lane’s lexicon:

Sad-Ba-Ra = to bind, be patient or constant, endure patiently, steadily adhere to reason and command, restrain from what reason and law forbid, restrain from manifesting grief, agitation and impatience. The word being the contrary of jaz'a (manifestation of grief and agitation) http://www.studyquran.co.uk/PRLonline.htm

1. Restrain from grief, agitation and impatience
2. Patience
3. Perseverance
4. Endurance

And when we see how 11:9-12 define it, it talks about how when one recieves smth from God they’re all jolly, when they have an obstacle in life, they’re all sad and upset.

This is why Allah says that in 11:11-12 that he will REWARD THOSE AND PARDON THOSE WHO DO SABR!!

By the way the Quran is defining it, sabr means enduring/persevering/restraining grief, impatience, agitation in times of difficulty and adversity

I got to be strong in adversity chat
