I know someone who has pectus carinatum (outward/pigeon chest). He used a brace for some time but after months of using, his bones started fusing/hardening due to age (he is currently 15). He is around 173 and underweight and skinny for his height. I've tried making him eat more and to work out but his appetite is really low, almost impossible to make him eat in a surplus althoug it sounds easy, its not for him for some reason. He has now been looking at surgery, im really worried because it can be really invasive and high risk of complications etc and it just looks brutal asf.

This is a really big insecurity for him and i think him eating more when it comes to macros and micros will fix a lot of his problems.

I just want to know if im kinda right regarding my claim that if he eats more and gains both bodyfat and muscle escpecially in his chest, obliques area etc (not to the point where he is fat but he is underweight so to a normal level i guess), that the pectus carinatum will be less showing.
Other than building more mass especially in his chest region, is there anything else one can to to minimize it without any invasive surgery?

Your friend should go to psychiatrist and then to the hospital for help

he has already gone to the hospital for numerous checks etc. Nothing wrong with his health other than the lack of food really. Js don't want him to have such an invasive surgery. And its so hard to make him eat enough although i personally think eating is the easiest thing ever
