It's really not, teenagers always talked about how to fix their acne and get good haircuts. There were always teenage guys who obsessed over softmaxxing and made sure mommy took them to the dermatologist and orthodontist. They now just call it "looksmaxing" and include blackpill meme language and more general awareness of how men's looks mattered.

How many of these teens "discussing looksmaxing" will be injecting HGH and getting surgeries? Nearly none - even though the rates of male plastic surgery are increasing, they are not exploding exponentially.
