There is literally no palpable difference between AI art and most regular art these days other than a few discrepancies

When someone says that AI art "has no soul" I cage so hard because it's just so retarded

Some people are just mad because the hobbies they’ve done their entire life will soon become obsolete due to ai. It’s understandable tbh

It’s useful it makes people happy

Music is a form of art

It expresses emotions
Just eat raw meat and kill instead you don’t need any alternatives

You’ll achieve such a natural and constant euphoria that you will need nothing else

I’m an artist and I completely disagree
A lot of people with your sentiment also think bob ross landscapes are “art”
We’ve lost objectivity and classicism in art. Standards are so obsolete that the masses think ai art will replace real artists.

What do you think is art?

that’s a loaded question thats not easy to define. I’ll write a short essay about it but in the meantime here is a video and short writing

You’ve been psyoped about art. It’s okay most people are victims to this propaganda and consider the “music” on radio to be music. Or the “food” we eat to be food
my real question is what is arts purpose for humanity. it doesn't have a practical use, we don't really need it.

respectfully that’s a low iq take. Art is life itself. Have you ever experienced beauty? Do you see the irony of you being on a looksmaxing forum and having that take?

yes ive experienced beauty

i find beauty in landscapes, humans etc but i find beauty in it because its temporary

art immortalizes something and ruins its finite aspect

everything is more beautiful bc one day it'll be gone and art ruins that

on a long enough time line even that oil paint crumbles my friend…We’ve already lost so many masterpieces due to fires, burglaries, earthquakes and war. Isn’t it beautiful to think the statue of venus of recently recovered from the sea on the island of Milos? How about all the broken statues in the museums on displays with no limbs? I think you’ll fancy those a lot. Anyways at least you see beauty. At least something spoke to you in your soul when you mentioned landscapes and humans…

Honestly you have potential…don’t let them psyop you. check out the link i sent.

ok my ultimate point though is that it isnt useful

it just evokes a feeling of like dopamine or appreciation

i probably sound shallow rn but im just being practical. if you wanna feel those things just pop a pill or something

no worries…
think of it like this…in ancient greece they made shields right? Why weren’t the shields just boring plain shields? why design them and paint on them? why make them beautiful? what’s the practicality of that right? or why did the roman soldiers have helmets with those fan like forms?

It’s because it WAS practical…the practicality is way more subtle and speaks to your instinct…

if it’s going to exist why not make it beautiful?

do you appreciate the communist buildings? they are indeed practical but would you want to live in those abominations of architecture? I’d rather live in a roman villa…

in my opinion aesthetics mogs boring practicality

I'm an artist myself (don't let the robo part fool you). I am somewhat bothered by AI from a financial standpoint if I were to want to make art my career. I like making things from mostly scratch occasionally from reference. But people who buy art for the product only will obviously choose AI. AI will take over almost everything creative and logical. There's no point in worrying about it. Either take advantage of it or seperate what makes human art important from what makes AI art effective.

There will always be a group of people who want the real deal. The challenge is networking and finding that audience. And having a skill in creating art is like having a skill in any other field that's been automated. It makes you a more interesting person. Even if AI didn't exist, there'd always be someone better than me at playing guitar, painting, etc. That shouldn't stop me from wanting to do it if I genuinely like it.

My worry is it’s cheap and fast, most people could just download what they need and ask for an artists style instead of actually buying the artwork, its way quicker than a traditional artist and is trained on traditional artists work

most companies and consumers could just choose ai

It's just something we're gonna have to live with. No use worrying about it. Just make art a hobby or side-gig if you aren't confident you could compete with it.

to people who went to art school or took training that’s like saying

Just make your company a side gig if you can’t compete with AliExpress/alibaba jfl

To believe AI art isn't real human art is self-answering a problem you have. Recognize it's an entirely different thing. If you wanna dismiss it as art entirely, then that's also fine too. But there's no point in trying to convince other people.

Yeah it is unfortunate. But even for the longest time art school has been a joke BEFORE ai. It was always overpriced and taught too many unnecessary things to people who should have already had personal motivation to refine their art in their own way and on their own time. You can learn most fundamentals in art like anatomy and lighting through youtube. I could only see it as important to go to college if you had to learn programs to make it.

What do you think is art?

Personally I think art is something that comes from the soul. And nature can be art because that is interpreted as art from someone with a soul. I am in the opinion that AI art isn't real art if it's just generated from a prompt.

Someone might feel that AI itself is art as a genius work of engineering, and thus see whatever it spits out as art. But ultimately I think AI art is purely profit-driven and people who enjoy it don't have the desire or mental capacity to correlate art with intention/meaning. Just "woah this looks cool!"

It reminded me of one time my parents bought a picture (print) to hang on their wall that was obviously drawn by someone. But it had no signature. Assuming there was a signature, or if the artist wanted to place one, it was entirely commercially driven to remove or exclude the signature. The art was intended to be decorative and affiliated with the company that was printed on the back. So I think that detracts it from being completely art in my PoV
