How disruptive has it been to your career (Needing to take time off, coming off as weird to colleagues), to your relationships with friends and family, to your ability to travel (time off spent recovering instead), to your bank account? To your life in general?

Someone close to me has done it and I've seen how bad it was for them. In a wheelchair / needed crutches for over a year. Really hope they can improve the procedure in the future. If you don't go crazy on it you can fraud it somewhat so that people don't know.
