photobiomodulation is basically using specific wavelengths of red and near infrared light to trigger cellular responses in tissue. its been studied for wound healing and inflammation for years but the implications for facial development and skin quality are something i havent seen discussed properly on here
the cascade part is what i think nobody really understands. its not just that the light does one thing to ur skin. its that it triggers a sequential chain of cellular responses. first mitochondrial activity increases, which then increases atp production, which then influences collagen synthesis, which then affects tissue density and firmness over time meaning the surface level result ur seeing is like four or five steps removed from the actual mechanism. which is why people who try it for a few weeks and see nothing give up too early. ur not waiting for the light to do something ur waiting for the cascade to complete
the wavelength specificity matters way more than people realize. most cheap red light devices on the market are not hitting the precise wavelengths that actually penetrate deep enough to do anything meaningful at the tissue level
ill be trying it out soon as ive ordered the equipments for it and will keep you guys updated once they arrive
