Physique or clear skin?

Every time I eat in a slight surplus the quality of my skin decreases, and yes i try to eat clean and normal food but nowadays everything is processed in at least some way. But should i continue trying to put on muscle, or should I just stay lean with a clear skin? Whats more important?

I’m lean right now but my frame is ass and i lack muscle, so isn’t lean bulking a solution?
lean bulking won't majorly affect the skin so go for that instead

I’ll try, i think i gotta research my diet more. I think right now the main cause of skin problem is caused by whey protein powder which contains sugar.
