I am currently a young teen and the following contents of this thread will describe my plan for ascension involving orthodontic intervention. Please give suggestions and tips in regards to this plan. I have slight malocclusion, a narrow palate, and have maxillary and mandibular recession. Face-wise I have prominent nasolabial folds (or itachi lines as referred to on social media) with a flat midface and recessed chin. When under downlighting it becomes apparent that my frontal bone is further protruded than my midface and chin. The light shines onto my forehead and leaves shadows on the rest of my face. As for my plan for payment of this treatment currently working part-time at McDonald’s for $15.50 an hour. I believe that what is most suitable for my orthodontic plan is an MSE paired with a reverse-pull face-mask followed up with Damon braces. I am planning to visit airway orthodontics in Sweedsboro, NJ. I DMd the ortho on TikTok about the total cost of this treatment and they quoted around 15k to 20k. The main issue of this plan is my parents. My dad is skeptical of the MSE in addition to the pricing. He says he doesn’t want me to pay that much and that he trusts another orthodontist near me that we talked to previously (the ortho near me wanted a tooth-anchored palate expander with rubber bands). Also, my dad talks about his aunt and uncle who had a similar treatment with a skeletal-anchored palate expander that failed and had to be reversed despite me telling him that the failure was likely due to their age. Please respond with any suggestions. Thank you.

work on your formulation (for anyone ready to dnr):

I am a young teenager seeking advice on a proposed orthodontic treatment plan.

Issues:
  • Mild malocclusion
  • Narrow palate
  • Maxillary and mandibular recession
  • Flat midface and recessed chin

Proposed plan:
  • MSE (maxillary skeletal expander)
  • Reverse-pull facemask
  • Damon braces

I plan to consult an airway-focused orthodontist in Swedesboro, NJ. I was quoted an estimated $15k–$20k for the full treatment. I currently work part-time earning $15.50/hour.

Concern:
My father is skeptical about MSE due to cost and prefers a local orthodontist who recommended a tooth-anchored expander with rubber bands. He also cites older relatives whose skeletal expander failed, though I believe age was a major factor.

I would appreciate any advice on whether this plan is appropriate and how to evaluate these options.

I’d rather orthodontics, can disguise it as dental issues to my parents rather than for cosmetics. I also think early intervention would be better than waiting until I’m 18.

MSE has aesthetically 0 ROI

Idk just say to your dad that it's your money and that you will do it anyway ater 18, but it's better to do now.
