Poker is genuinely some of the easiest money I have ever made. I have made thousands since turning 18 at my local casino. Much better than wageslaving if you are a student. I make roughly $50-55 hourly playing on Monday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Most people at your local casino are complete degenerates who lack a fundamental understanding of the game. I have played with legitimate schizophrenics at my table whispering to themselves JFL. If you want to learn, I would recommend purchasing "Modern Poker Theory", and getting a GTO wizard subscription as soon as possible. You should be a good enough player to crush low stakes after around a month of studying. I would also recommend playing micro-stakes online and inputting your hand history into GTO Wizard to patch holes in your game.
To start, you should have a bankroll of at least $1000. Either ask your parents or wageslave until you have it.
The younger you are the better. Older players at the casino tend to regard you as inferior, so if you end up beating them in a hand they will start to rage. If you fleece a fish for a decent amount of money, and they harbor some resentment toward you it is guaranteed money. I have made over 1.5k from betting excessively large amounts when I have an extremely strong hand when up against a player who I just took money from and is clearly flustered. Many times they will just think I am trying to bully them out of the pot and re-raise me, sometimes even going all in.
Also, stereotype EVERYBODY at the casino. It will save you money.
- Women are overly passive and rarely play pots.
- Old men tend to be conservative
- The best player at a table is usually a 30-40 year old white man
- If somebody is wearing sunglasses and a hat or a hoodie they are a fish 8 times out of 10.
- If somebody is wearing a hoodie and a hat they are a shark 8 times out of 10.
- If somebody is wearing a backpack it is almost guaranteed they are a good player.
- Young players all suck. Selection bias as those playing at a casino tend to be dumber and more impulsive. They lack discipline and do not study the game. I have taken money from almost every single <22 yo that has played with me.
- White people have a normal distribution for skill
- Blacks are either horrible or good. They will call anything
- Asians are also either horrible or good. Will call more but less than blacks
- Indians are all terrible
- Arabs are probably the best on average.
