I miss when you could just post whatever you wanted online. Nowadays you can't post anything without getting banned or cancelled. The internet is boring and heavily censored today. Everywhere is filled either with advertising or propaganda and every site is intricately designed to exploit your monkey brain's weaknesses and get it addicted. Spending over 3 hours online a day used to be considered a serious problem. Nowadays, screentimes of 10+ hours are considered normal.

Youtube used to let you post whatever you wanted and get paid for it. Now all videos have to be heavily censored and you have to avoid saying certain words on their demonetisation list or you die in the algorithm.
Twitter used to be a serious platform but now it's filled with degeneracy propaganda and rage bait.
Reddit used to be normal and you could find a subreddit for everything, even r/incels. But now the jannies banned all the right wing or blackpill subreddits. The site is mass censored and filled with bots posting political propaganda.
4chan used to be actually edgy. Now its just full of fags and trannies who post degeneracy.

What ruined the internet? I'd say it was the 2017 youtube adpocalypse, which meant all websites censored anything remotely controversial. Also, the 2018 tumblr porn ban, which caused tumblr fags to spread across other websites and infect them with degenerate ideas.

Reminder of the golden days:

Social media is engineered to make you addict to it. . A lot of people also think that between 2016-2017 the internet changed. In 2017, that fucking song Despacito getting billions of views was one of the signs that shit will get worse. I remember the 2018 youtube commentary/critic videos era, it was so lame. Now in 2024 you can not look any video without getting recommended some video with that stupid thumbnail of some person with the mouth open thanks to the fucking guy Mrbeast. As now the new "cattle" of content creators are the retarded gen alpha kids, the content is so much worse and unbearable to watch.

I was watching some mini "documentary" and for some reason they decided to add tick sounds or meme sounds (even memes on the screen) every 5-10 second and I I felt like my brain was getting melted. If that video was uploaded in 2010 people would think the editor was a troll. They of course do this for the short attention span of children. That's how subhuman gen alpha is.

TikTok is to blame too.

Some people think 2013 or 2010 was the year when the decadency of the internet begun. Realistically it started when people were introduced to the Iphone, around 2008 I think. Internet in your pocket and for everyone.

Personally I don't miss 2017 internet in any way. I would say I really miss the 2010-2013 era (I started to use it around 2010) or 2015 maximum. Even memes now are very weird and unfunny. Look like if they were made by some AI. The only thing that made laugh a lot were the AI covers. After that I don't care about any new meme.
